Profile
Patrick C. Flood is Full Professor of Organisational Behaviour at Dublin City University. He received his PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and completed post-doctoral work at London Business School. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a former Chevening Scholar, Fulbright Scholar, EU HUMCAP Scholar, Erskine (NZ) Scholar and CRH Scholar. He holds both teaching and research excellence awards from Dublin City University and the University of Limerick, and has served in Head of School roles and as an Assistant Dean.
His faculty and visiting appointments include London Business School, the University of Maryland, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, the University of Cambridge, Rotterdam School of Management, Northeastern University, institutions in the PRC, and Capital University of Economics and Business. He has worked in Africa, Asia, Australia, China, Europe, the UAE and the USA on in-company, executive and MBA programmes. He has previously been named number eight in the HR Most Influential listing.
His research focuses on CEO leadership, high-performance teams and organisational change, and his research programme has attracted E2m in research funding. He is the author of over 100 research publications, including articles in the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Human Relations and Human Resource Management.
He is Co-Editor of the Blackwell Encyclopedia of Organisational Behaviour (2015, Blackwell). His thirteen books include Rethinking Change (Edgar Elgar, 2025), Outsider Leadership (2019, Palgrave Macmillan), Change Lessons from the CEO (2013, Jossey-Bass), Persuasive Leadership: Lessons from the Arts (2010, Jossey-Bass), Managing Strategy Implementation (2000, Blackwell) and Effective Top Teams (Blackhall, 2000).
He has consulted with over 30 organisations, including Adidas, AstraZeneca, the UK Department of Trade and Industry, DP World, Kendrion GmbH, Hewlett-Packard, Investnet, Intel, Pernod Ricard and Pirelli. He currently teaches on executive programmes at Cambridge Judge Business School, Frankfurt School of Management and Rotterdam School of Management.
